Roll Top Desk locks are replicas of original locks used on desks dating from the Victorian and Golden Oak eras. These desks have a lid that rolls up and down in a track. The desk lid is made of either solid wood or tambour, wooden slats glued to a canvas backing. This unique lock is specifically reproduced for roll top desks. The historic 19th century design and excellent quality are ideal for antique and new applications.
These Roll Top Desk Locks are reliable with smooth locking mechanisms. They are locked and unlocked with a key. Desk lid often has finger rests or knobs to raise and lower lid. Keyhole cover mounts on exterior of desk frame, outlining keyhole.
Roll top desk locks are sold as a set. Set includes: lock, square trap-door strike, keyhole cover, two keys and mounting screws.
Install
Roll top desk locks are mortised into base of roll-top lid, facing downward. Square strike, with spring loaded trap door, is mortised to sit flat in desk surface. When desk lid is rolled down, winged bolt drops down into strike to lock lid to writing surface.
