Hobnail Lamp Shades are a beautiful, luminous white opal glass. The embossed hobnail pattern refers to the raised bumps covering the shade’s surface. This raised pattern is striking both lit and unlit. Hobnail lamp shades are very popular. Use on glass, brass and nickel oil lamps. They are an excellent choice when restoring antique lamps.
Originally these white glass hobnail lamp shades were used in the late 1800’s. Their popularity was significant. They were then revived during the 1940’s – 1950’s. Mid-century lamps, using this shade, were often electric rather than oil. These lamps used the same hobnail lamp shades however they often had a matching font in the lamp-base.
