Antique Furniture Locks are a useful compact size. This traditional half mortise design has been used on furniture for several centuries. These quality locks are made in England. Each has secure lever locking mechanism, steel box and brass plate.
Strikes were rarely used with this type half mortise lock as wood was notched to accept bolt. However if preferred a generic strike (#4521) is available separately. Made In England.
Left and right hand style of same lock size are keyed alike. Select door-locks according to side door is hinged on. Keyholes are off-center requiring lock to be positioned accordingly when used on drawers.
Replacing Half Mortise Locks
Keyhole location measurement is critical. Replacement lock-keyhole-location must match location of keyhole in furniture.
To measure: easiest to measure old lock, if you have it:
- Lock Keyhole Location: distance between selvedge-edge – where bolt shoots through, to lock pin. This measurement is known as the backset.
- Furniture Keyhole Cutout Location: distance between furniture-edge to estimated location of lock pin in furniture keyhole.
